Gookie Dough Snicker Bars
The only dessert you need in your life. Everything you love about a Snickers bar but with extra nougat and all the chocolate in the world. Oh, and of course GOOKIE DOUGH! Fiver layers of goodness, this recipe is easy but slightly time-consuming because you need to wait for the ingredients to set, layer by layer. But 10/10 worth it!
You will need:
(For the bottom layer)
220g of chocolate chips
65g of peanut butter
(For the nougat layer)
Four tablespoons of butter
115g of granulated sugar
125ml of coconut milk or regular milk
85g of marshmallow fluff
140g of salted peanuts
One teaspoon of vanilla extract
(For the caramel)
400g of caramels
240ml of cream or coconut milk
(For the cookie dough layer)
One monster tub of Gookie Dough in original flavour
(For the top chocolate layer)
265g of milk chocolate chips (or any of your choice)
50g of peanut butter
175g of pretzels
88g chocolate chips, melted
Grease a 9x13 inch baking tray and melt the chocolate chips with the peanut butter in a saucepan or microwave and then pour into the baking pan. Spread until even and place in the fridge for 30 minutes so it can set.
During this time, make the nougat. Melt the butter in a saucepan over a medium heat and add the sugar and milk, stirring until it has dissolved and bring it to a boil. Let it cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add in the marshmallow fluff and vanilla extract, stirring until it has a smooth consistency. Turn off the heat and fold in the peanuts and then pour over the chocolate layer. Let it cool completely, about 30 minutes.
Now, make the caramel. Combine the caramels and cream in a saucepan over low heat and allow it to melt, stirring occasionally until smooth. This usually takes about 10 minutes, then pour over the nougat layer and allow it to cool completely.
Take all of your Gookie Dough out of the tub and roll it out with a rolling pin until it's about an inch thick. Pop the Gookie Dough on top of the caramel layer but don't press too hard into the caramel because you don't want to mix the layers together.
Next, melt 260g of chocolate chips with 50g of peanut butter and pour on top of the cookie dough, spread until it is completely even. Sprinkle with the pretzels and drizzle with the remaining melted chocolate. Let cool and harden completely.
Pop into the fridge for at least an hour before serving and then cut into desired shapes. Leave a room temperature for about 10 minutes before serving, so you get the gorgeous rich taste!
Sharing is caring, but we think we will let it slide just this once. The official Snickers bar needs to move over (sorry Mars), but Gookie Dough has just beaten you, and we're not afraid to say it. Creamy, crunchy, gooey, rich, sweet and salty. All these textures in a delightful little bundle. Your excuse? It's Easter!
